  Can You Defend Yourself before a J. Committee?

  to those who have been before a judicial committee for apostacy.. the elders will ask you questions not for the purpose of finding out the truth, but to make sure they can df you.. at my appeal hearing serveral months ago i was questioned by the appeal committees to their satifaction, they even thanked me for my honesty, as it helped them get what they were looking for to make the original dfing stand.. after they were finished with their questions i ask if i could now defend myself and prove that i was telling the truth and not a biblical apostate.. the chairman informed me that i would not be allowed to defend myself.. i looked at all 8 brothers(2 committees 5 & 3) in total amazement at his refusal to allow me to defend myself.

  to them(8) it seem perfectly alright not to allow me to defend myself.. wow.. the chairman said they really were not a judicial court and did not need to be that concerned about doing things in harmony with what is concidered to be fair and right by worldly courts or the bible.

  in fact the chairman spent about 10 minutes trying to explain why they didn't have have to be fair in the legalistic way of courts.. .

  when russell ran wtbs it was a study group.

  when rutherford ran it it was a "freedom of speech and dam everyone else" group.

  when knorr ran it it became a us corporation with mormon overtones (no facial hair, sex is bad, masterbate and you will die).

  the witnesses in europe get to hear the story, that "inc" ( in wachtower .... inc "stands for corporated association and not for a company based on stocks.

  in french it would be called sa, societe anonyme, what means "inc" on stocks.. does anybody have the ability to explain the whole situation.. thanks from the grand duchy of luxemburg.

  seen the jan awake - how jw's are hero's

  the latest awake is terrible.

  the society is saying how they were heroes in the new york tragedy.

  how they provided help to the rescue forces, how 14 jws died - of them a fireman and an elder in the congregation.

  How they provided help to the rescue forces, how 14 jws died - of them a fireman and an elder in the congregation. How people crossing the Brooklyn Bridge flocked to the bethel as it was a beacon of hope. How wonderful it was for all the dubs in New York to call on every home to give an expression of hope.

  Terrible - the hypocrisy stinks,

  Since I'm on my soapbox today - Sex vs The WTS

  i'm still trying to make sense out of sex and the so called bibical view by the wts.

  i guess to be fair to a certain extent the wts is only trying to follow the bible's view about sex, but i often wonder if maybe the current understanding is incorrect.. lets examine homosexuality for a moment.

  for a long time i've always beleived what the society has taught in that homosexuality is wrong.

  I've also found out that all the naughty things the society forbid - ie oral sex etc - everybodys doing anyway!- including the elders who are up on the platform!

  I firmly believe that the society have forced upon us unreasonable and unworkable rules that are impossible to live by.

  Sounds like the temple leaders in Jerusalem doesn't it

  Of Course Bethel monitor this web site, they also monitor all access to it from Bethel. Only those involved in "gathering intelligence" can view it legally, those who access it are "counselled" and/or removed from Bethel.

  BTW I know of 3 brothers who go to the easy cafe in Tottenham Court Road or the internet cafe near Brent Cross Shopping Centre (though that is not safe for them now)

  Assemby Halls for Profit?

  i've just come back from the weekend snooze (know to others as the circuit assembly hall in bristol).. the local congregations paid a fortune for the assembly hall to be built.

  it was a major build with purchase of land and construction costing a fortune - and paid for by voluntary donations.

  however our po has informed me that the circuit was charged 4,300 for the weekend assembly!

  The local congregations paid a fortune for the assembly hall to be built. It was a major build with purchase of land and construction costing a fortune - and paid for by voluntary donations. However our PO has informed me that the circuit was charged £4,300 for the weekend assembly! For what?

  Given that the Circuit assembly is used 30 times a year, that is £130,000 per annum income - for a building that was paid for by the district, constructed AND maintained by volunteers - and owned as an asset by the society. Also any additional work gets charged to the brothers. There is no rate, rent or water charges (religious building).Insurance and maintenance cannot cost more that £25k per annum MAX

  Whats going on, who is profiting?

  I also heard that the society got a grant to "retro fit" the assembly hall in manchester back to its "art deco" look. What happened to the money? How has the grant benefited the local community?

  If you are trying to be reinstated then going to Vegas will really put the downers on your chances of reinstatement into the glorious society where everything is sweetness and light.

  Devote yourselves to study, field service, bible highlights and preparing for comments in the Watchtower. To think of wasting such precious spiritual time in the city of sin is unforgivable and will ruin your chances of progress into the spiritual light

  Do not do it, remember the spiritual dangers of enjoyments and works of the flesh!!

  (By the way its a GREAT place, the Treasure Island Hotel is by far the best hotel in its price bracket. Virgin is the best way to get there. Enjoy)

  Ignorant Elder Comments

  i don't know if this was discussed here before, but, what is the most ignorant comment you ever heard an elder say.

  i once had an elder say to me that my brother, who was at the time fighting in vietnam will be destroyed and killed over in 'nam because he did not accept "jehovah"!!!!

  i promptly told him to go "f" himself.

  I was in a Birmingham congregation for 2 years in the mid 80's when an Elder named Mervyn Worsley said

  "Jehovah will ask you to murder those who don't follow the truth, do you love Jehovah enough to do that". I just thought he was slightly mad and told him to stop being stupid. 15 years and September 11 2001 later I'm not so sure
